Initial Impressions

Appearance: 91

“A couple of veins and wrinkles give the cigar a rustic look while the pigtail and closed foot give it a modern look. I’m interested in seeing how it smokes.” –Ron (shuckins)

Aroma: 91

“A nice sweet hay and dry grass aroma is present. The aroma is muted towards the foot due to the closed wrapper. Throughout the cigar, a very soft and inviting sugar, almost caramel like, aroma fulfills the nose.” –Steve (ThaGreatWazoo)

First Third

Flavor: 92
Strength: Medium
Body/Complexity: Medium-Full

“Initially, this cigar begins with some power. Strong notes of grass and pepper take shape with a crisp, creamy finish that lingers on the tongue. The retrohale is very full of flavor and lends a sharpness to the finish. Throughout, the complexity is full front with a mixture of pepper and sweetness that leads to a very enjoyable beginning.” –Steve (ThaGreatWazoo)

“The initial third starts off with quite a blast of pepper. The pepper increases in intensity over the next half inch or so. Once the pepper starts to die down, the other flavors are beginning to show more. There is a very sweet, almost molasses like flavor in the back of the pepper. There is also nutmeg and cocoa like qualities as well. The smoke is very thick and creamy. The draw however is slightly tight and remains that way until the end of the third. No issues with the burn however. The ash is almost white and holds a little over an inch before falling off.” –Sandeep (Djangos)

Second Third

Flavor: 92
Strength: Medium
Body/Complexity: Medium

“Started smoking a lot smoother when a taste of coffee joined the earthy tobacco, thus easing the dryness of the cedar out of the picture. There is still a light hay taste that the peppery nutmeg dances around with.” –Ron (shuckins)

“During the second third, the spices have faded some but are still there, especially on the retrohale. There is now a more creamy and mild side to the cigar set off by the nice subtle overall spices. Still very enjoyable and still pumping out smoke.” –Wes (SosaCub4Life)

Final Third

Flavor: 93
Strength: Medium
Body/Complexity: Medium

“In the final third the spiciness died down, and there was a nice mellow wood flavor. The finish was nice and mellow with a nice wood and earth flavor with a hint of sweetness.” –Craig (WyldKnyght)

“The final third still continues with the pepper and now an almost caramel like sweetness. The cocoa is stronger now with leather becoming more prominent towards the end of the cigar. The pepper picks up again in the last inch. However, the bitterness has now mellowed out. The pepper reaches a crescendo towards the very end of the cigar. The draw in the final third is very good and the burn is straight. Overall, a very good cigar.” –Sandeep (Djangos)

“If you are looking for a powerhouse cigar that offers sweet undertones and a smooth, crisp retrohale, this is for you. Definitely not for the weak at heart. This cigar is everything a smoker who enjoys full flavored smokes could ask for. Ready to smoke right when I got it, this cigar needs little rest to allow it to fully mature into an after dinner delight. Definitely grab some of these if you want to challenge your palate to a fistfight full of potential and destruction. Excellent cigar.” –Steve (ThaGreatWazoo)

“I had high expectations for this cigar, but seem to have jumped the gun a bit and was let down. I hope some humidor time will bring this one around.” –Ron (shuckins)

“Anyone who has followed my reviews knows that I like nice thick creamy smokes, and I’m not a big fan of small vitola cigars. That being said, this was a great cigar from the thick creamy smoke, to the different flavor changes, to the perfect draw. This is by far my favorite small vitola cigar, definitely going to pick up more of these.” –Craig (WyldKnyght)

“The cigar was a good smoke with some good complexity. The pepper and sweetness complimented each other quite well. The cocoa and nutmeg flavors were also quite good with the flavor mix. I would definitely smoke this again.” –Sandeep (Djangos)

“Overall, this was a very good smoke. It had a great mix of spices that started strong then blended into the creamy side of the cigar as things got going. The last third was a perfect mix for me. Burn was great also. I’d love to smoke this again.” –Wes (SosaCub4Life)
