Initial Impressions

Appearance: 88

“Good looking churchill sized cigar. The wrapper is smooth with some veins visible. has a light brown color with an almost greenish tinge to it. No major blemishes to the surface. There are two caps present.” –Sandeep (Djangos)

Aroma: 90

“Aroma is what I would expect from the looks of the stick. Grassy, hay, some cedar. Smells like a very mild Connecticut cigar. We shall see…” –Wes (SosaCub4Life)

First Third

Flavor: 90
Strength: Medium
Body/Complexity: Medium

Blind Cigar Review: Cordoba & Morales | Front 9 Churchill

“The initial third starts off with some strong pepper. I was not expecting this given the mild flavors that I got on the dry draw. Also the such a light wrapper I was expecting a milder start. The pepper increases in intensity for the next inch and then wanes off. This leaves a tingling in the mouth that last quite a long time. The major flavor other than the pepper is surprisingly of nutmeg. There is also some woodsy notes of cedar. The burn is majorly skewed but after about an inch and half starts to straighten. The draw is free and the dark gray ash is flaky but holds for a good two inches before falling off.” –Sandeep (Djangos)

“A lot spicier on start-up than I thought it would be,with a white pepper and dry oak taste up front. A fresh-cut grass flavor, with a light splash of coffee was in the background, but lingered on my palate.” –Ron (shuckins)

Second Third

Flavor: 88
Strength: Medium
Body/Complexity: Medium

“The middle third starts off with more nutmeg and now has a cinnamon like quality to it as well. The pepper is still present and seems to gravitate to the back of the throat. Leather has replaced the woodsy flavor. The level of complexity has definitely increased in this third. There is also an earthy character in the aftertaste. The burn has completely straightened out and the draw is great as ever. Also there is copious amounts of light bluish creamy smoke.” –Sandeep (Djangos)

“Coffee and oak are coming through as the leather moves to the background. I detect a bitter sweetness on the finish of molasses. A little heat returns to the retrohale and the flavors change-up a bit within the profile.” –Gregg (McGreggor57)

Final Third

Flavor: 89
Strength: Medium-Strong
Body/Complexity: Medium

“The coffee turned to more of a green tea taste as it moves to the front, bringing a bit of allspice and fresh hay flavor with it. The cedar has a sweet taste, and the pepper remains constant, providing an enjoyable kick to the cigar at the very end.” –Ron (shuckins)

“The final 3rd is much of the same. I am just not liking this stick. There is still a hint of spice that is keeping me going but overall there is just not much flavor here and the flavor that is there is leaving a bad taste in my mouth. I will see if I can struggle through til the end, but I’m going to most likely have to put this one down. It’s just for me.” –Wes (SosaCub4Life)

Overall Impressions

Draw: 96

“Great draw, wide open, producing clouds of cool tasty smoke.” –Ron (shuckins)

Burn: 91

“The cigar had a nice burn. I never had to retouch or relight and the line stayed pretty good throughout in a nice circle.” –Wes (SosaCub4Life)

Construction: 93

“The construction looked great. The cigar had medium firmness with some give. There were however no soft spots. The cigar softened up considerably once the heat hit and there was a small break in the wrapper in the final third. There were two well applied caps.” –Sandeep (Djangos)

Overall Strength: Medium
Overall Body/Complexity: Medium
Overall Experience: 88

“Over all the experience was quite good. The initial and middle thirds lacked some complexity but the latter part of the middle third and the final third made up for it. The intense pepper in the last inch was too much for me but I am sure there are people who live for this kind of thing. Overall I would definitely give this another go.” –Sandeep (Djangos)

“An enjoyable cigar, with a couple of dimensions of palate pleasing flavors. It just didn’t have that wow factor it needed for me to rate it higher.” –Ron (shuckins)

“I was really excited with the flavor changes early on. The middle third gave my palate a rest by mixing up the flavors that began that third, rather than introducing new ones. The final third surprised me with such a mellow start that thankfully added some additional dimension before becoming harsh. I only wished some of the flavors developed a bit more. I would be interested in smoking this one again. I can’t help but wonder if some additional rest would help the flavors mature.” –Gregg (McGreggor57)

“This is just not my kind of stick. Too mild, too grassy, too cardboardy? The bit of spice got me through most of the way until I had to just put it down. Some people like real mild sticks but for me there just wasn’t enough spice or flavor here to keep me wanting to smoke it. I ended up quitting before I got to the finish because it just wasn’t enjoyable at all to me.” –Wes (SosaCub4Life)
